Zeugme [zögm] : Figure de style consistant en la réunion de plusieurs membres de phrase au moyen d’un élément qu’ils ont en commun et qui n’est pas répété. La phrase la chevelure est blonde, les yeux bleus et le sourire étincelant présente un zeugme où le verbe être n’est pas répété. Certains zeugmes peuvent présenter une rupture de registre (par exemple du concret à l’abstrait dans il a essuyé ses larmes et une cuisante défaite) ou, ce qui est à éviter, une rupture de syntaxe (par exemple, dans il a tenté et réussi à ouvrir la porte, la préposition à n’est pas compatible avec le verbe tenter).
